Series Artwork: Specific Ideas

So I’ve been thinking about potential series artwork ideas and it’s been more difficult than I thought it would be!  It’s hard to choose a theme that I want to pursue for the next few months.  I can see why many artists get artist block now!

I was first thinking that I would focus on a certain skill, or medium I wanted to use, but I couldn’t think of something to commit to.  I also want to focus on doing something with a little more meaning.  Something that other people can relate too.  So, it has been a bit tricky for me to choose something.

I want to do something where I can focus on a broad issue, like world peace, in a hippie style artwork or something.  I then want to bring my topic down to 3 or 4 more specific issues and represent overcoming war, or gay pride week, or thigs we have overcome as a whole.  I want to represent the way all humans are connected, we may have different religions, beliefs, cultures, but in the end, we all share this world, and have overcome challenges, and have had successes, and I want that to show in my art.

I want to do it from a Canadian point of view, because I know that different countries would see victories and losses different than we view them.  I don’t exactly know what I want to focus on yet but I do want to incorporate the world peace belief into all of my pieces.  This gives me a really wide variety, so I may be able to cut down my theme as a go on, but for now, I want it to be broad, gives me a lot of wiggle room.

I could also show through my art work how I feel world peace could be achieved, or have images that I felt would bring out a sense of peacefulness in people.  I want to use different materials, and do my artwork on different mediums.  I could make jewelry, write a poem, take pictures, do pottery, paint, draw, or much more.  I am excited to begin exploring this topic.  I’ll let y’all know when I think or my first series piece.  J
